Project Overview

The Newman-Madsen property is situated within the Red Lake greenstone belt in Northwestern Ontario. The property covers a substantial portion of a regional unconformity existing between the younger Confederation Assemblage and the Balmer Assemblage rocks. Numerous gold deposits and mines are located proximal to this unconformity, including the nearby past producing Madsen Gold Mine that produced approximately 2.8 Million ounces of gold - the third largest mine in the Red Lake camp after Goldcorp's Campbell and Red Lake Gold Mines.

Previous Work

During the 2004-2005 drill program, 31 holes, totalling 9530.5 m were completed. Drill holes SNM04-01 through to SNM04-08 were reconnaissance holes and focused on testing a combination of magnetic highs, interpreted shear structures and associated gold in soil anomalies. These 'Phase I' targets were widely distributed throughout the property. Drill holes SMN04-09 through SNM04-31, were drilled as a 'Phase II' program and followed up on prospective hits obtained from the first stage of drilling. Several anomalous gold values were encountered. The most promising results were from SNM04-06. This hole, drilled into the Dome stock granodiorite, encountered a sericitized, silicified shear with grades averaging 18.21 g/t over 3.65m.
