Project Overview
The main goals of future work will focus on adding additional information to assess the economics of this project.
Geology
The East Bay Property is located in the northeast portion of the Red Lake Greenstone Belt, on the same trend and approximately 3 kms northeast of Rubicon's F2 Zone. Red Lake is one of the world's premier gold camps, with more than 20 millions ounces of gold produced from several mines in the belt. The Property lies on the northeast trending limb of the East Bay Deformation Zone (EBDZ), within a succession of mafic metavolcanic rocks, ultramafic rocks, diorite to granodiorite intrusives and minor iron formations. Goldcorp's Red Lake Gold Mine is widely regarded as the richest gold mine in the world.
Mineralization
The portion of the ultramafic unit that contains gold and is likely associated with a cross-cutting fault systems and the Zone is referred to as the GAZ Gold Zone for "Green Altered Zone". The rock is tinted by a green characteristic colour, which vary from gray-green to intensely green to azure. That coloration is due in part by the strong chloritization of the rock, but also by the presence of fuchsite. That GAZ is the host unit for the primary gold zone and remains the primary target for future exploration.
Metallurgy
A total of five metallurgical tests were performed on an exploration composite formed from East Bay drill core to assess recoveries and amenability for processing at Goldcorp Red Lake Mines in Balmertown, ON. Head assays of the composite were 6.8 g/t (0.2 oz/t) gold (Au), 1.19% sulfur (S) and 0.09% arsenic (As) on average. A significant "nugget effect" was observed throughout the testing due to the presence of visible gold in the sample.
Several approaches were used to assess gold recovery with the following results: (a) Overall gold recovery through gravity concentration and cyanidation was found to be >93%; (b) Average gold recoveries from tests involving flotation and cyanidation were 95.9% and 97.45% respectively; (c) Gravity separation varied widely and ranged from 5.9 to 75%; and (d) Gold recovery from gravity and flotation testing was >90% on average. After cyanide leaching, an overall gold recovery of >97% can be expected from East Bay ore.
Ongoing Exloration
Goldcorp Inc., as Operator, is currently working on an engineering study on the economics of developing an underground ramp in order to produce a bulk study and/or an underground platform for diamond drilling. Premier will spend approximately $500,000 on the East Bay Property in 2010. The target has a similar magnetic signature as that at Rubicon's F2 discovery.
